The
Mission of Helios Press Helios Press is dedicated to publishing books that help us understand ourselves and the world around us. Our initial goal is to build a list of popular psychology, self-help, and current events titles, after which we will expand into related niches. Our titles include The Psychology of War by Lawrence LeShan. How to Heal by Jeff Kane, MD, and Healing with Nature, by Susan S. Scott. Charioteer of the Sun In mythology, Helios is the charioteer of the sun. Each day he drives his golden chariot across the sky; each night he rests in the West on the isle of the Blest. He is the divine distributor of the solar light and heat that are essential to life. Because of his unique vantage point, his vision encompasses all of creation. |
He is celebrated in the Homeric Hymn To Helios as follows: As he rides in his chariot, he shines upon humanity and the deathless gods, and piercingly he gazes with his eyes from his golden helmet. Bright rays beam dazzlingly from him, and his bright locks streaming from the temples of his head gracefully enclose his far-seen face. A rich, fine-spun garment glows on his body and flutters in the wind, and stallions carry him. . . .Hail to you, Lord! Freely bestow on me the substance that cheers the heart! (Adapted from H. G. Evelyn-White.) Helios Press Catalog To place an order, view the current list of books, and find additional information about each title. |
